The Writer Who Couldn't Read

NPR created this video about an amazing story of a writer who suddenly could not read. Howard Engel, a writer of detective stories, woke up one morning to discover that he could not read. Howard Engel had suffered from a stroke. He recovered in the hospital, but he was left with Alexia, which is also known as word blindless. Howard Engel found a clever way to trick his brain so that he could almost read again. He has written two novels since his stroke. You can read the full story here on NPR. Take a look:
