Academy of American Poets

American Society of Indexers

American Society of Journalists and Authors

Association of Authors' Representatives, Inc. (AAR)
A professional organization of independent literary and dramatic agents. Includes a list of agents who are members.

Authors Guild, The
The Author's Guild, the nation's largest society of published authors is a leading advocate for fair compensation, free speech and copyright protection.

Authors Licensing and Collecting Society
The ALCS is the British collecting society for all writers.

Boulder Writers Alliance (BWA)
The Boulder Writers Alliance (BWA) - located in Boulder, Colorado, USA - is a nonprofit organization of communications professionals. Our goals are to help our members find work and to increase our marketable skills.

Canadian Authors Association
The Canadian Authors Association is this country's national association for writers of every kind, for those actively seeking to become writers and for those who want to support writers.

Children's Book Council (CBC)

Detroit Writer's Guild, The

Education Writers Association
The Education Writers Association (EWA) is the national professional organization of education reporters.

International Association of Business Communicators

International Women's Writing Guild
The International Women's Writing Guild is a network for the personal and professional empowerment of women through writing.

Mystery Writers of America
Established in 1945 by a dozen or so like-minded mystery writers for the purpose of promoting and protecting the interests and welfare of mystery writers and to increase the esteem and literary recognition given to the genre

National Association of Black Journalists
The National Association of Black Journalists, 3000 members strong with 74 affiliated professional chapters and 51 student chapters, is the largest media organization for people of color in the world.

National Book Critics Circle

PEN American Center
Organization promotes free speech, literacy and reading.

Poetry Society of America
Nonprofit organization providing events, activities, awards, promotion of poetry endeavors and links to resources.

Poets & Writers Online
Online resource for the print publication Poets & Writers. Site provides news, resources, links and speakeasy, a discussion area for poets and writers.

Public Safety Writers Association
The PSWA is a lively, intimate association that exists to support people involved in writing about public safety:

Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers (RMFW)
Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers (RMFW) dedicates the efforts of our volunteers to supporting published and unpublished writers of novel-length fiction.

Romance Writers of America
RWA is a non-profit professional/educational association of 8,200 romance writers and other industry professionals.

Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, Inc.
Large organization for SF & Fantasy writers. The SFWA website provides tons of information for writers, including Writer Beware and Preditors & Editors.

Sisters in Crime
The Sisters in Crime organization is now twelve years old, has a membership of well over 3,000 worldwide, and continues to grow.

Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing
SABEW with headquarters at the Missouri School of Journalism, is an association of more than 2,900 business journalists across the nation.

Society for Technical Communication
STC is an individual membership organization dedicated to advancing the arts and sciences of technical communication. Over 23,000 members.

Society of Authors, The
The Society of Authors is the UK trade union for more than 10,000 writers, illustrators and literary translators.

Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators
An organization dedicated to serving the people who write, illustrate, or share a vital interest in children’s literature. Website contains articles, links to member sites and information on awards and events.

Society of Professional Journalists, The
SPJ is a not-for-profit organization of 13,500 journalists dedicated to encouraging the free practice of journalism; stimulating high standards of ethical behavior; and perpetuating a free press.

Tallahassee Writers' Association
TWA is a dynamic organization of writers, published and unpublished, most of whom live in the Greater Leon County area. TWA's purpose is to provide fellowship among area writers to help them develop their craft and get their writings published.

Western Writers of America
WWA is an organization of professional writers devoted to the literature of the American West.

Writer's Center, The
The Writer's Center is a literary crossroads designed to encourage the creation and distribution of contemporary literature. Located in Maryland.

Writers Guild of America
The official Website of the WGA, with valuable advice and information on the art and craft of professional screenwriting for film, television, and interactive projects -- including profiles of, and interviews with, the leading writers in the industry.

Writers Guild of America, East
The Writers Guild of America, East is a labor union representing professional writers in motion pictures, television, radio, interactive technologies and television and radio news.

Writers' Guild of Great Britain (WGGB)
The Writers' Guild of Great Britain was established in 1958, its mission, then as now, was to ensure that writers of all media are properly represented.

Writers' Union of Canada, The
Founded in 1973, TWUC is a national organization of professional writers. The Union works to advance conditions for all writers, to unite writers for the advancement of their common interest, and to foster writing in Canada.
