Just because he's dead doesn't mean he doesn't have a new book coming out. A new, previously unpublished work by J.R.R. Tolkien will hit bookstores in April, 2007. The book will be titled The Children of Hurin.
Houghton Mifflin has acquired U.S. rights to to book. HarperCollins UK initially acquired world rights to the project. PW reports Christopher Tolkien is reconstructing the book from his father's drafts.
Janet Silver, vice president and publisher of Houghton Mifflin, told Publishers Weekly, "As J.R.R. Tolkien's original American publisher, dating back to The Hobbit, we are extremely proudto be bringing thisproject to Tolkien's devoted readership in the United States."
We're quite happy to learn that Christopher Tolkien is taking the time to ensure that all of his father's work is finally published.
