2006 Book Sense Winners Announced

The 2006 Book Sense Book of the Year winners have been announced. The Book Sense awards recognize the titles independent booksellers most enjoyed handselling during the past year. The voters are the owners and staff of the American Booksellers Association. The winners are:

Adult Fiction: The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova (Little, Brown)

Adult Nonfiction: Freakonomics by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner (William Morrow)

Children's Literature: Inkspell by Cornelia Funke (Chicken House/Scholastic)

Children's Illustrated Book: Zen Shorts by Jon J. Muth (Scholastic)

The winners will be honored at an event at BookExpo America on Friday, May 19. You can see the full list of winners, including the four 2006 Book Sense Book of the Year Honor Books on bookweb.org.
