2012 National Book Award Poetry Finalists Announced

The finalists for the 2012 National Book Awards have been announced. 181 poetry collections were submitted by publishers this year. Here is the list of finalists:

David Ferry, Bewilderment: New Poems and Translations (University of Chicago Press)
Cynthia Huntington, Heavenly Bodies (Southern Illinois University Press)
Tim Seibles, Fast Animal (Etruscan Press)
Alan Shapiro, Night of the Republic (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt)
Susan Wheeler, Meme (University of Iowa Press)

This year's poetry judges are Laura Kasischke, Dana Levin, Maurice Manning, Patrick Rosal and Tracy K. Smith. The winning poetry book will be announced at the National Book Awards Ceremony on November 14, 2012.
