2012 Scotiabank Giller Prize Shortlist Announced

The shortlist for the 2012 Scotiabank Giller Prize has been announced. The annual prize awards $50,000 to the author of the best Canadian novel or short story collection published in English and $5,000 to each of the finalists. The Scotiabank Giller Prize is named in honor of the late literary journalist Doris Giller. It was founded in 1994 by her husband Jack Rabinovitch.
Here is the shortlist for 2012:
- 419 by Will Ferguson (Viking Canada)
- Inside by Alix Ohlin (House of Anansi Press)
- The Imposter Bride by Nancy Richler (HarperCollins Publishers)
- Ru by Kim Thuy, translated by Sheila Fischman (Random House Canada)
- Whirl Away by Russell Wangersky (Thomas Allen Publishers)
