Posted on August 10, 2014

The poster for the 2014 National Book Festival has been revealed. The poster shows a green moon wearing a stocking cap. The moon is happily engrossed in a book. It looks like he is at the halfway mark in the novel. He is surrounded by stars. The poster was created by illustrator and children's book author Bob Staake.

The National Book Festival will be held August 30, 2014 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Some of the dozens of authors attending this year include E.L. Doctorow, Alice McDermott, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Brando Skyhorse, Lisa See, Eric Litwin and Paul Auster. There will be over 100 author pavilions at the festival. President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are honorary chairs for this year's event. Politics & Prose of Washington, D.C. is the festival's official bookseller.

Former First Lady Laura Bush helped establish the first National Book Festival, which was held in 2001. She used her experience establishing the Texas Book Festival before arriving at the White House.
