275 People on Waiting List for Most Popular Ebook at New York Public Library

Posted on April 21, 2011

Ebook lending is a hot topic these days. Amazon.com recently announced they will offer an ebook lending service for the Kindle. That will make it easier for people to borrow ebooks, but don't expect a fast turnaround for the most popular books.

The New York Post reports that there are 275 people on the wait list for the most popular ebook title at the New York Public Library. The book is Harlan Coben's novel, Caught. That will be a long wait even if all 275 people are fast readers.

Ebook loans do expire if they are not "returned" after a set timeframe, which is usually around three weeks according to the Post. This avoids the problem that sometimes occurs with print books, where a book is loaned out and then never ever returned.
