Screenplay Nominees for the 86th Oscars Announced

The screenplay nominees for the 86th Oscars have been announced. This year's awards will be presented on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center. The awards ceremony will be televised live on ABC.
Chris Hemsworth and Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs announced the nominees in the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater early this morning. Here are the nominees:
Best Adapted Screenplay
- Before Midnight, written by Richard Linklater, Julie Delpy, Ethan Hawke, adapted from the film, Before Sunset
- Captain Phillips, screenplay by Billy Ray, based on the book, A Captain's Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days at Sea by Richard Phillips
- Philomena, screenplay by Steve Coogan and Jeff Pope, adapted from the book, The Lost Child of Philomena Lee by Martin Sixsmith
- 12 Years a Slave, screenplay by John Ridley, adapted from the book, Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northup
- The Wolf of Wall Street, screenplay by Terence Winter, adapted from the book, The Wolf of Wall Stree by Jordan Belfort
- American Hustle, written by Eric Warren Singer and David O. Russell
