ALA Announces Fiction and Nonfiction Shortlists for 2014 Andrew Carnegie Medals

The American Library Association (ALA) announced the short lists for the fiction and nonfiction Andrew Carnegie Medals. The winners will receive a prize of $5,000. The medals will be presented in Las Vegas in June at the 2014 ALA Annual Conference. The four finalists who don't win will each receive $1500.
Here is the Shortlist for Fiction:
- Americanah, by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (Alfred A. Knopf)
- Claire of the Sea Light, by Edwidge Danticat (Alfred A. Knopf)
- The Goldfinch, by Donna Tartt (Little, Brown and Company)
- On Paper: The Everything of Its Two-Thousand Year History by Nicholas A. Basbanes. (Alfred A. Knopf)
- Five Days at Memorial: Life and Death in a Storm-Ravaged Hospital by Sheri Fink. (Crown)
- The Bully Pulpit: Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and the Golden Age of Journalism by Doris Kearns Goodwin (Simon & Schuster)
