Alex Gonzalez is the new creative director at Elle. He replaces Joe Zee who is leaving Elle for Yahoo's new fashion and beauty sections. Gonzalez joins Elle from Marie Claire. He will report to Elle editor-in-chief Robbie Myers. Gonzalez will also continue his position as executive artistic director for Town & Country.

Robbie Myers said in a statement, "It goes without saying that Alex is an incredible talent and I'm thrilled to welcome him to the Elle team. It is an exciting time here at Elle as we prepare to mark our 30th anniversary next September, and his depth of experience and creative vision will be a true asset as we continue to innovate and evolve the Elle look. Elle has always captured that which is current and evoked emotion through the bold visual representation of how fashion, beauty and culture intersect, and Alex has an innate understanding of that vision."

Gonzalez says, "I'm delighted to be joining Robbie Myers as creative director of Elle. Robbie and her team have built Elle into the powerhouse brand that it is and I look forward to being part of its future. I've been fortunate to have had an exciting tenure at Hearst, and am grateful for Hearst management's support as I move forward to ELLE and explore all the new possibilities it has to offer."

Before serving as artistic director of Marie Claire Gonzalez was creative director of W. Some of his other positions have included creative director of GQ and creative director of Flair. He is also the co-founder and executive creative director of AR New York.
