Amanda Peet to Publish Picture Book With Random House Children's Books

Posted on May 23, 2014

Actress and playwright Amanda Peet will publish a picture book with Random House Children's Books. The book, Dear Santa, Love Rachel Rosenstein, is co-written by her longtime friend Andrea Troy. It will be published in Fall 2015. The book tells the story of a young Jewish girl who wonders why Santa never visits her hours.

Peet says in a statement, "When my two children, Frankie and Molly, started asking me why we don't have a Christmas tree and colored lights on the roof and a plate of cookies for Santa, it was hard to come up with an appealing answer. The book came out of a desire to capture the feeling of being left out during the Christmas holidays and to explain how you can't always get what you want-and how sorting that out, for Jews and Gentiles alike, is part of what the holiday spirit is all about."

Amanda Peet graduated from Columbia University with a degree in American history. Her first play, "The Commons of Pensacola," recently opened at the Manhattan Theatre Club. It stars Blythe Danner and Sarah Jessica Parker. Some of the films Peet has starred in include The Whole Nine Yards, Something's Gotta Give, Syriana and Please Give.
