Amazon's novel award contest, Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award (ABNA), returns for the seventh year this year. It opens to submissions on February 16. Amazon is taking entries in the following categories: general fiction, mystery/thriller, romance, science fiction/fantasy/horror, and young adult fiction. A finalist will be chosen in each category. There will be one Grand Prize winner receiving an Amazon Publishing contract and a $50,000 advance. The four other finalists receive an Amazon Publishing contract and a $15,000 advance.
Amazon says it will accept unpublished and self-published English-language novels submitted from February 16, 2014 through March 2, 2014 or until 10,000 eligible entries are received, whichever is earlier. Complete details about how to enter and contest rules can be found Amazon.com.
Last year's Grand Prize winner was Rysa Walker. Her novel, Timebound, was published by Skyscape, Amazon Publishing's imprint for young adult and crossover fiction.
