Amazon Launches KDP Kids With Illustrated Book Creation Software
Posted on September 4, 2014
Amazon.com continues its expansion in the book publishing arena. Amazon has created a new method for publishing illustrated children's books through its Kindle Direct Publishing service. Amazon announced the launch of KDP Kids, which has been created to assist children's book authors in publishing both chapter books and illustrated books in the Kindle store.
Amazon has created new software called Kindle Kids' Book Creator which allows authors to format and upload their manuscripts ready to be sold in the Kindle store. The software, which sounds like Final Draft for children's books, allows the author to import and integrate illustrations and extras like text pop-ups. Authors finalize the book then upload to KDP. The software has filters to get the book in the right part of the store so parents will see it. The store allows parents to search for books by age, grade range and category.
Amazon says that authors will keep their rights and will earn royalties up to 70%. The books can be enrolled in KDP Select, which makes the book available for the Kindle Owners' Lending Library and Kindle Unlimited programs. There are marketing tools, as well.
It will be interesting to read the reviews for the software. You can learn more and try the software at KDP Amazon/kids.
