Amazon Powered Waldenbooks Website Launches

Posted on November 22, 2002

Waldenbooks has opened its website which is operated by Amazon.com ecommerce technology. Like the Borders teamed with Amazon.com site launched in 2001, the new Waldenbooks.com site offers customers Amazon.com's selection of books, music and movies along with its editorial reviews, personalization and recommendations, 1-Click ordering and other benefits. Amazon records purchases made on the Waldenbooks.com site as sales, and a percentage of sales from the site go to Borders Group, the parent company of Waldenbooks.

"This site is yet another step in the evolution of the successful alliance Borders Group forged with Amazon.com in 2001," said Waldenbooks President Ron Staffieri. "By teaming with the world's best online retailer, Waldenbooks now provides our customers with unparalleled service and selection online while we continue to focus on what we do so well -- providing products our customers love with an attractive, convenient shopping experience."

In addition to Amazon's database of products, Waldenbooks.com also features a Waldenbooks store locator to help customers find and contact their closest store. Customers can also purchase and redeem Waldenbooks electronic gift cards online. The new Waldenbooks.com site also features a link to information about Waldenbooks' Preferred Reader program, which has approximately three million members. However, Preferred Readers cannot earn Preferred Reader program points or apply program discounts to purchases made at Waldenbooks.com.
