Jennifer Lawrence is writing the screenplay for her next movie with Amy Schumer. Jennifer dropped that interesting bombshell during an interview with The New York Times in which she was supposed to be discussing playing Katniss Everdeen for the last time in the upcoming film, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.
The talk turned to other projects and Jennifer volunteered the fact that she and Amy are writing the screenplay for a comedy in which they will co-star as sisters. She said the screenplay is almost done, that they've already got 100 pages which she said, "just flowed out of us."
Jennifer described their chemistry as writing partners saying, "Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavors. It’s been the most fun experience of my life. We start the day off on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages. And we crack up." She says they will also include Amy's sister Kim in the writing project who co-wrote the screenplay for Trainwreck.
The two met when Jennifer emailed Amy after she saw Trainwreck. They corresponded for a while, moved on to texts and the next thing you know they're vacationing together and writing a screenplay. At one point in the interview, Jennifer realized she had just shared the news prematurely. She texted Amy: "I just spilled the beans to The New York Times. Is that O.K.?" Amy, ever the quick wit, texted back, "That you're gay? Totally! It's exciting!"
Here's a shot Amy posted on Instagram of the co-writers enjoying some jet skiing:
