Amy Schumer to Publish Memoir With Simon & Schuster

Posted on September 24, 2015

Comedian Amy Schumer is going to publish a memoir with Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. The deal was announced by publisher Jennifer Bergstrom. The book will be called, The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo. It will be published late next year.

The amount of the advance was not officially announced but The Hollywood Reporter says the deal is worth $9 million. This is considerably larger than recent book deals with Tina Fey, Lena Dunham and Aziz Ansari. Schumer is just coming off an Emmy win for her show Inside Amy Schumer. She won the Emmy in the Outstanding Variety Sketch Series Award category.

Schumer had a hit this year with her movie Trainwreck. She is currently writing a screenplay with Jennifer Lawrence. Her Emmy winning show Inside Amy Schumer has been renewed for a fourth season. She will be hosting SNL on October 10th.

Schumer said in a statement, "I am thrilled to be working with Gallery. Believe it or not there's actually more I have to say." She also tweeted the news of the deal.

Bergstrom says, "Amy Schumer is the smart, honest, and authentic voice of a generation. She is a writer, actress, director, producer, and not surprisingly, a natural storyteller. I could not be happier to be publishing her book."
