ANG Newspapers to Buy Milpitas Post Newspapers

ANG Newspapers, publishers of 18 daily and weekly San Francisco Bay Area newspapers, has announced that the company has reached an agreement to purchase the Milpitas Post and its two sister newspapers, The Berryessa Sun of North San Jose and The Fremont Bulletin. The three newspapers form the independently-owned Milpitas Post Newspapers, Inc. Trust and have a combined circulation of 53,900.

"Obviously, ANG Newspapers is very excited about the Milpitas Newspapers joining our expanding group of Bay Area community newspapers," said Scott McKibben, ANG's President and Publisher. "The Post is a high-quality suburban newspaper and complements our growth strategy quite nicely."

McKibben foresees few, if any, changes to the Post and its sister publications. In keeping with ANG Newspapers' acquisition policies, all three newspapers will continue to be managed, edited and reported by their current staffs, without layoffs. At the Post, Managing Editor Robert J. Devincenzi will assume the role of publisher, replacing founding publisher and editor, Mort Levine. Levine started the Post in 1954, with his wife Elaine. They have run the paper continuously since then, except for a ten year period between 1980 - 1990, after which they repurchased the newspaper through a trust in 1990. Mort Levine will continue to write for the Post's Opinion page.
