Antonia van der Meer Named Editor-in-chief, Modern Bride Magazine

John Loughlin, the president and CEO of the Primedia Magazine and Internet Group has announced the promotion of Antonia van der Meer, 42, to editor-in-chief of Modern Bride Magazine. Ms. van der Meer has been executive editor at Modern Bride since January, 2000. She replaces Stacy Morrison who departed to join One magazine as Editor-in-Chief.

As editor-in-chief, Ms. van der Meer will have overall responsibility for the editorial content of Modern Bride. She reports to Doug Fierro, the Group Publisher of Modern Bride.

In making the announcement, Mr. Loughlin said, ``Antonia is a highly accomplished, award-winning author and editor, who has written for many years on the subject of love and marriage. I am confident that the tradition of excellence the readers of Modern Bride have come to expect will continue under her leadership.''

Ms. van der Meer is the author of many books, including several on the subject of weddings. Prior to joining Modern Bride earlier this year, Ms. van der Meer was the editor of Seasame Street Baby, a start-up magazine distributed by Children's Television Workshop (CTW). From 1988-1989, she was acting senior editor at Bride's Magazine, where she wrote, edited, and assigned feature articles. She began her publishing career at Seventeen Magazine in 1980 as an associate editor, and was promoted to the position of editor in 1982. Ms. van der Meer holds a B.A. in English and American Literature from Brown University. She graduated, with honors, in 1979.
