ASQ's Magazine, Quality Progress, Has New Look

Posted on March 3, 1999

The American Society for Quality (ASQ) has unveiled a new look for its magazine, Quality Progress, while refining its editorial strategy to keep pace with changes in the field of quality.

"In the past few years, quality practitioners have begun to place greater emphasis on such issues as performance excellence, new applications of quality outside of manufacturing, and using quality tools and techniques on a global basis," said Ron Kingen, president of ASQ. "We wanted to reflect these changes in our monthly magazine, which is read by more than a quarter of a million quality professionals in 120 countries."

The design changes are intended to make the magazine easier to use and faster to access. These changes include a new cover format with more information about what's inside each issue, an expanded table of contents, topic labels to highlight the contents of specific articles, new page layouts with more legible type, and improved use of graphic elements. In addition, the cover of the magazine now includes the tag line "Advancing Performance Excellence," which reflects ASQ's strategic goals.

The redesign debuted with the March issue of the magazine. Simultaneously, ASQ began publishing a full-text version of the magazine on the Internet. The electronic edition of Quality Progress can be found at http://www.asq.org.
