Astronaut Chris Hadfield to Publish Book

Posted on July 8, 2013

Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield will publish a book, An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth, in October. Hadfield will also read an audiobook edition of the book himself. The book is being published by Random House in Canada and Little, Brown in the U.S.

Hadfield recently served as Commander of the International Space Station (ISS). He shared many educational videos from the ISS and became one of the world's best known astronauts. He also covered David Bowie's "Space Oddity" from the ISS. The music video has garnered over 16 million views.

Little, Brown Executive Editor John Parsley, said in a statement, "That Chris Hadfield never lost his sense of wonder for the grand features and quirks of space is obvious to the millions who have watched the videos he beamed back from the International Space Station. We are thrilled to work with Chris on his new mission - a book full of stories about his fascinating experiences hundreds of miles above the Earth, all of which are surprisingly and deeply resonant for all of us who have two feet planted in the office and at home."
