Attitude Network Launches Glossy.com Site for Teen Girls

Posted on August 28, 1997

Attitude Network announced that Glossy, its new Web site for teen-age girls, will be the basis for a print magazine. The premiere issue of Glossy will be available at newsstands across the country in January.

Glossy will target teen-age girls and provide content on fashion, beauty, style, entertainment and issues facing teens today. The magazine will take a more sophisticated look at fashion than other publications geared toward teenagers.

The 120-page magazine, which will have a cover price of $2.95, will be published quarterly, with an initial first-issue run of 250,000. Glossy will be published by Glossy.com developer Attitude Network and distributed to newsstands nationwide; following the first issue, subscriptions will be available.

``The fact is, there are no true fashion magazines targeted toward t een girls,'' said Sarah Goldsmith, editor-in-chief of both Glossy.com and Glossy. ``Teen girls take fashion seriously, and the vast majority of magazines for teen girls don't -- this is where Glossy is different.''

The content of Glossy.com and Glossy are both driven, to a large extent, by teen-age girls themselves. ``The Internet gives us an immediate two-way means of communication with our readers, and we know, on an hourly basis, exactly what information they're looking for and how they want that information presented,'' said Goldsmith.
