Author Michael Chabon Releases His First Novels in Ebook Form

Posted on December 23, 2011

Author Michael Chabon has released his first ebooks. Chabon's novels, The Mysteries of Pittsburgh and Wonder Boys are now available as ebooks through Open Road Media. The L.A. Times reports that Chabon said in an interview that he agreed to the traditional ebook royalty rate - even though he thinks it is "criminally low" - because he didn't want to get left behind in the ebook revolution.

Open Road Media shared this video with Chabon where he talks about how he decided to become a writer and about how much he loves reading. Chabon says his mother's house had a crazy, dusty, spidery crawlspace work room with a primitive computer where he first started writing.

Chabon says, "It is part of a writer's job in some way or another to be no respecter of boundaries... to challenge people's preconceptions about what's literature and what's not ... or what's appropriate or what's not. What can be said and what can't be said. A great work of literature transcends genre .. whatever genre that may be and that includes 'literary fiction.'"
