Posted on April 10, 2011

The Guardian reports that novelist Christopher Currie proposed to his girlfriend in the acknowledgements page of his first mystery novel, The Ottoman Motel (Text Publishing).

Here is the text of Currie's proposal from the acknowledgements page (PDF file)

"To my favourite, to the reason I live my life, Leesa Wockner, who, if she reads this, I hope will agree to marry me, despite the number of commas in this sentence."
Currie said he kept the book hidden from his girlfriend for over a month before showing it to her. Currie told Crikey, "A ring is one thing to hide, a book is quite another."

His published proposal was a success. She said, "yes, of course I will," after reading it.
