Automattic, Company Behind WordPress, Expects to Hit $45 Million in Revenues This Year

AllThingsD reports that Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, expects to bring in $45 million in revenues for 2012. AllThingsD's source is Automattic CEO Toni Schneider and founder Matt Mullenweg.

The company makes money from its premium WordPress.com services, which you can see here. The company also offers super premium services, dubbed VIP, for bigger clients. Wordpress also now has an advertising revenue-sharing network, called WordAds, which is the result of a partnership with Federated Media.

The company has managed to keep its number of employees fairly small over the years, despite the growth. They have 106 employees according to AllThingD.
