Barbara Walters Looks For a Better Book Deal

Posted on May 30, 2006

Barbara Walters reportedly is unhappy with her measly $6 million book deal with Miramax, and has opted out of her current contract to find a better deal. The New York Post says her agent has been tasked to offer the book to another publisher.

Barbara's deal is less than advances that some have recently received. Bill Clinton reportedly received $12 million and former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan got $8.5 million for his book deal.

We just hope she hasn't set her sights on a contract the size of Oprah's new fitness book contract. Because that's really as big as it gets, contract-wise. And no one gets a better book deal than The Oprah.

Update: The Post reports that Barbara has moved her book to Random House's Knopf imprint. They also say she is getting $5 million, which is $1 million less than her rumored Miramax deal. Maybe, it wasn't about the money after all.
