Mattel and Papercutz to Publish Barbie Graphic Novels

Posted on June 1, 2016

Mattel has announced a partnership with Papercutz for a series of Barbie graphic novels. Papercutz will create new material based on the Barbie media properties for the graphic novels.

Papercutz publisher Terry Nantier says in the announcement, "Barbie is one of the great kids' properties, and I couldn't imagine a better addition to our publishing lineup. There's never been a more exciting time to be a Barbie fan, and we can't wait to be a part of her new adventures. As Mattel guides the character in to new situations and life experiences, these new graphic novels will play a pivotal role in telling her story. Together, we're going to create a series of publications that will delight and thrill a whole new generation of Barbie fans."

Three Barbie graphic novels are already scheduled to be published this fall. The first three graphic novels include Barbie: Fashion Superstar, Barbie Puppies: Vol 1: Puppy Party and Barbie Starlight. More graphic novels will be published in the first half of next year.

Barbie #1: Fashion Superstar arrives on September 13, 2016 and is already available for pre-order from Amazon.com.
