Posted on July 27, 1998

barnesandnoble.com has teamed up with the online site of Romantic Times Magazine. According to Romantic Times, romance readers typically buy 10-40 books a month, generate nearly a billion dollars a year in sales, and account for 48 percent of all mass paperback novels sold.

"Our alliance with Romantic Times Magazine will create the single best place online for buyers of romantic fiction," said Steve Riggio, vice chairman of Barnes & Noble, Inc. "We stock the largest selection of romantic titles available anywhere, and the online magazine's content is second to none."

"It's a natural," said Carol Stacy, publisher of Romantic Times Magazine. "With our experience and expertise, and Barnes & Noble's retailing genius, we will be the place on the Web for all romance novel enthusiasts."

romantictimes.com was initially launched with over 5,000 book reviews and over 500 author pages; once complete, the site will feature over 20,000 reviews and 3,000 author pages. The site also includes a readers section, featured articles, and a writers section that includes tips, research and resource information for the beginner or published author. By autumn, the site will have interactive message boards that enable readers around the world to share their passion for books. Cover models, like Fabio, will also have a dedicated section, letting fans know what goes on "Under the Covers!"
