Barneys Launches The Window Magazine

Posted on February 17, 2015

Barneys has launched a print magazine called The Window. The magazine is essentially an advertisement for the retailer. Actress and model Rebecca Dayan covers the Spring 2015 issue, the first print issue of the publication.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Barneys produced 120,000 copies of the publication timed with the start of New York Fashion Week. The magazine is 144 pages long. It is based on the retailer's blog of the same name. The Window blog launched in 2011 and covers design, fashion, celebrities, style influencers, travel, dining and more. The print publication will cover similar topics.

Barneys says in the announcement, "And now, we continue The Window narrative, taking it beyond the roots in renowned store display, and ripping it from its digital form with the first-ever print edition. Travel, home, design, and style are edited and curated by the Barneys team with an eye toward our exclusives and a celebration of the personalities that are important to us. They are the stories that frame the fashion we love set forth on tangible, framable, deliciously crisp smellable paper."

The debut issue includes an interview with French designer Isabel Marant. It also features a travel article about Panama and coverage of the new Freds restaurant in Beverly Hills. The Window also talks to Julien Dossena, the new creative director of Paco Rabanne.
