Bartleby.com Publishes Emily Post's Etiquette on the Web

Posted on December 3, 1999

Bartleby.com has announced the publication of the 627-page first edition of Emily Post's 1922 etiquette guide, Etiquette in Society, in Business, in Politics and at Home. "Just as Post applied her insight into social usage to bring the 'Best Society' into every American's home, Bartleby.com is pleased to fill the need on the Web for high-quality reference works freely available to every reader," said Steven van Leeuwen, Publisher and Founder of Bartleby.com.

Bartleby.com began as a personal research experiment in 1993 and within one year published the first classic book on the Web. Since then Bartleby.com has grown to incorporate in 1999 and engage a staff of editors and Internet professionals who select, design, and create the electronic book experience. Other works at Bartleby.com include: Bartlett's Familiar Quotations (9th ed.), Strunk's Elements of Style (1st ed.), Fowler's the King's English (2nd ed.), and "BartlebyVerse," which comprises six classic poetry anthologies, including the Oxford Book of English Verse.
