Betty White Gives SNL Ratings Boost

Posted on May 10, 2010

Entertainment Weekly reports that Betty White's appearance on Saturday Night Live was a big win for the weekly comedy show. Betty's appearance gave SNL its biggest overnight ratings in 18 months. The telecast averaged an 8.8 rating/21 share among 56 local markets according to Nielsen. EW says this was the best night for SNL since Jon McCain appeared on the show with Sarah Palin on Nov 1, 2008.

Facebook users pushed to get Betty White on the show. SNL was smart to respond to the fan request. It will be interested to see if this success will give Internet campaigns more power.
