Bigwords Launches Online Magazine

Bigwords, an online college bookstore, has announced the launch of The Big Word, a new online magazine containing editorial to help college students make the most of their busy lives. Since August 1998, Bigwords has primarily offered students new and used textbooks. After reaching one million or more unique monthly visitors, Bigwords is now focused on monetizing its access to this demographic.

The Big Word editorial team includes: Editorial Director David Keeps, joins from Details Magazine where he was West Coast Editor; Editor-in-Chief Suzan Colon, joins from Jane Magazine where she was a co-founder and Editor-at-Large; and, Managing Editor Michael Dolan, joins from Details Magazine where he was Features Editor.

Publisher Todd Sotkiewicz, formerly General Manager at Wired Magazine, leads the sales team and is joined by Associate Publisher Rob Houghtlin, formerly of ESPN Magazine where he headed its Midwest Advertising Sales Group. The Company also hired VP Business Development Barry Yudess, formerly responsible for Channel Partnerships at Earthlink.

``Our new focus allows us to fulfill our original strategy of capturing this illusive, yet lucrative consumer during the critical 18-24 year old years,'' said CEO Matt Johnson. ``With the official launch of The Big Word we have established a world-class media property for the audience and advertisers alike.''

The Big Word offers five major editorial areas: (1) Culturama -- music, movies, books, magazines, videogames etc; (2) Living -- politics, technology, travel, fitness, fashion, food and drink; (3) Intercourse -- social, sexual and otherwise; (4) Cash Flow -- careers, finance, money, prizes; and (5) Random Haus -- comix, cartoons, clips, and facts about contemporary life.
