Bill Frist's Political Career is Over

Posted on November 29, 2006

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R - Tennessee) has confirmed that he will not be making a run for the White House in 2008. He is resigning after his Senate term ends this year. So what caused Frist to reverse his plans to run for president? It could be that nasty little insider trading investigation by the SEC. Or what's more likely is that the polling showed that after the Terri Schiavo disaster and his remote (incorrect) diagnosis that he had a better chance of being elected the president of PETA than president of the United States.

You might recall the passage in one of his earlier books when he describes in detail how he adopted cats from animal shelters and then performed cruel medical and surgical experiments on them. He later said in a statement that he was "crazy" at the time from the stresses of medical school. His medical school issued a statement condemning his actions in the strongest terms.

So, it appears that the American public will be spared the sight of PETA marching outside Frist's campaign headquarters during the primaries, holding placards showing mutilated kittens with the words "Frist the Kitten Killer". It looks like political junkies will have to look elsewhere for some fun in 2008.
