Billy Corgan Contemplates Life After Smashing Pumpkins

Posted on November 7, 2004

Billy Corgan, the former lead singer for the 90s band Smashing Pumpkins, is currently on a book tour to promote his new poetry book Blinking With Fists (Faber & Faber). Talking to CNN, Corgan said that he got the idea to write a poetry book when someone told him that his song lyrics reminded her of Yeats' poetry. "Who is Yeats?" he asked. That question led him to do some research and eventually to write a book of his own poetry. Corgan says he has already signed more of his books than he signed CDs during his time with Smashing Pumpkins. Who'd have thought?
