Bitly Acquires Twitterfeed from Mario Menti

Posted on August 13, 2011

Bitly, a popular URL shortener and more, announced it has acquired Twitterfeed. Twitterfeed is a useful service that can automatically feed your blog to Twitter, Facebook and other services. It has about two million users and sends updates from nearly 4 million feeds to Twitter and Facebook. The service also provides stats on interaction with your feed on the social networks.

AllThingsD says Twitterfeed was operated by one person, Mario Menti, who is now working with Bitly. It is not known how much Bitly paid for Twitterfeed. Nothing about the service is expected to change in the near future.

Mashable quotes Bit.ly CEO Peter Stern as saying, "We bought it because it's a product, it's out there, it's growing, it's in use. For the foreseeable future it's kind of business as usual."
