Posted on October 24, 2003

Barnes & Noble, Inc. announced that the company has decided not to continue to make new investments in Book magazine, a publication in which it has a 50 percent ownership. As a result, Book will cease publication after its November/December issue. Barnes & Noble made its first investment in Book magazine in 2000. After a recent review, the company made the decision not to continue investing in the publication.

Book was launched in 1998 and published by West Egg Communications LLC through a partnership with Barnes & Noble, Inc. The publication funded by Barnes & Noble saw its circulation collapse by 80% last year after it was no longer offered as part of a B&N membership program.
