Bravo's Platinum Hit Reality Show Packed With Songwriting Drama

Posted on April 22, 2011

Bravo's Platinum Hit will debut on Bravo on May 30. The songwriting reality TV show will follow 12 up-and-coming musicians as they battle through a series of songwriting challenges. Jewel Kilcher is the show's host and Kara DioGuardi is the head judge. The winner gets a $100,000 cash prize, publishing deal with Sony, BMI Songwriters The Writing Camp and a recording deal with RCA/Jive.

The prize is good, but songwriters may have to endure some serious criticism. One of the first promos from the new show that contains highlights of the reality songwriting drama. Someone is accused of writing a song that is a "lyrical cesspool." Another songwriter is told they sound more like a nurse than a songwriter. We think the the first dig is the better of the two. The nurse jab doesn't make a lot of sense.

Jewel shared a video blog about the show and songwriting a few months ago.

Here's a video with clips from the upcoming series.
