Posted on September 10, 1999

Catholic Healthcare West (CHW), a not-for-profit healthcare system, has announced the launch chwHealth, a free destination site for health and wellness information. The site is a significantly expanded version of CHW's previous corporate site.

Personalization is the key feature of the new site. Through CHW's free "My Page" functionality, site visitors can take one of several health risk assessments and receive a detailed personal health profile; mini profiles on fitness, nutrition, stress, sexual health and substance abuse; and a personal health file for storing useful health information online for themselves and their families.

Debbie Cantu, director of corporate communications for CHW says in a statement. "The site enables us to use the Web to proactively build relationships with consumers and patients on a long-term basis. By providing valuable, free health information, we allow users to assess their own health, and then offer them effective ways to stay healthy or improve their health."

Other features of the new site include: an online health library, health newsletters, an aternative medicine center with current news and articles and a search engine of over 12,000 health-related websites. Catholic Healthcare West partnered with First Consulting and HealthCentral.com to build the new site.
