Chris Colfer Talks Debut Novel, The Land of Stories

Glee star Chris Colfer's book, The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell, has arrived in stores. In the book, twins Alex and Conner receive a fairy tale book from their grandmother and soon find themselves entering a land beyond all imagining where fairy tales are real.

The fairy tale stories they know so well have not ended in this strange land. For example, Red Riding Hood has her own kingdom and Queen Cinderella is pregnant.

Chris Colfer talked to Good Afternoon America about writing the book. He says he first started writing this book when he was ten and his grandmother was his editor. He also says he used to try to finish fairy tales as a kid because he loved them so much. This concept is used in the novel, where characters from well-known fairy tales have lives beyond their original stories. Colfer introduces the novel in the clip below. Take a look:
