Christopher Hitchens Dies at 62

Author, editor and journalist Christopher Hitchens has died. He suffered from esophageal cancer. Hitchens wrote a series of very thought-provoking and moving essays as he endured treatments for the cancer, including chemotherapy and radiation. Vanity Fair, where he was a contributing editor, has the obituary as well as the essays he wrote for the magazine.

In this interview from 2010, Hitchens talked to Anderson Cooper about how he found out he had cancer, how he as an atheist felt about all the people praying for him and whether he might convert to religion as his disease progressed. He also discusses the tragic suicide of his mother. As always, his wit and intelligence shines through his words:
