Hamburg Publisher Turns Cigarette Vending Machines Into Book Machines

Posted on May 13, 2010

Hamburg-based publisher Automatenverlag has transformed old cigarette machines into book machines and installed them around the University of Hamburg. The cigarette selections have now been replaced with the option to purchase different books.

A report from Publishing Perspectives says the small books contain original graphic novels, fiction, poetry and travel guides written by Hamburg authors. The books each for four Euros.

These book vending machines are much more interesting and far healthier than cigarette machines. What a fabulous idea.
