Clique, Attic Futura and North South Publishing to Launch Teen Site

Posted on March 17, 2000

U.S.-based Clique.com, a commerce service provider (CSP) for magazine publishers, has announced plans to form a joint venture with U.K. magazine publishers, Attic Futura and North-South Publications, to launch a teen destination site catering to Europe's Generation Y market. Attic Futura and North-South will provide the editorial expertise that has produced the U.K. teen magazine brands, Sugar, TV Hits, Inside Soap, and All About Soap, which reach more than 2 million teens each month.

Clique.com's eCommerce technology will be integrated into the website. Teens will also be able to participate in online events, obtain Web based email accounts, download music and video, create their own homepages and use other interactive tools and games.

``This partnership means we have a tremendous opportunity to leverage our magazine brands,'' said Neil Raaschou, Managing Director of Attic Futura. ``We are planning a 10 million pounds sterling (US $16 million) investment in the first year. With our teenage magazines we already have a dominant presence in the market, and the creation of the first U.K. Teen destination site is a major advance for the company and everyone involved. The quality of the site and the technology employed means that we will be in a position to lead the European online teenage market from the outset and will create a site that many advertisers will be very keen to be involved with.''
