CNET Names Alice Hill Editor of CNET.com

CNET, Inc. announced the promotion of Alice Hill to vice president of development and editor of CNET.com. Hill has been a member of CNET's editorial staff since 1995 and most previously served as the founding editor of Gamecenter.com, CNET's gaming-oriented Web site.

In her new positions, Hill will play a pivotal role in the evolution of CNET Online. As vice president, development, Hill will lead the creative development of new CNET properties and will be involved in significant enhancements to the existing services. As editor of CNET.com, Hill will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day editorial and production activities for CNET.com.

Hill has worked in the editorial realm for more than seven years. The first woman to have worked at Ziff-Davis Publishing as a technical editor, Hill wrote articles for such publications as PC Sources, Computer Shopper and Computer Life, where she served as senior technical and features editor. Hill began her CNET career in 1995, as executive editor for CNET.com. In 1996, she devoted herself full-time to creating Gamecenter.com.

In addition to Hill's promotion, CNET also announced that George Jones, formerly the executive editor of Gamecenter.com, has been promoted to the position of editor. In 1996, Jones joined CNET to help build Gamecenter.com from the ground up, based on what gamers were looking for in the areas of content, tips, reviews, columns and industry insight. Prior to CNET, Jones worked for Ziff-Davis publishing's PC Week and Computer Gaming World magazines.
