Conde Nast Launches Movies Rock Magazine

Posted on November 7, 2007

Conde Nast is debuting a new magazine called Movies Rock. It's a unusual publication focusing on both movie and music. L.A. Times calls it a publication "dedicated to the intersection of pop music and moviemaking." While they are no other music and movies magazine titles the magazine will have tons of competition from magazines that cover each type of entertainment independently.

The L.A. Times says Movies Rock will be mailed to about 16 million subscribers beginning November 1st. Editor Mitch Glazer talked to the L.A. Times about the hot music movie scene. Glazer says, "This year going into next, you've got 'La Vie en Rose,' 'Sweeney Todd,' 'El Cantante,' 'I'm Not There,' 'August Rush,' 'Once' -- it's definitely of the moment."

The magazine is also being promoted with a December 2nd rock concert at the Kodak Theatre. Conde Nast also has a title called Fashion Rocks.
