David Lagercrantz Hired to Pen More Books in Stieg Larsson's Millenium Series

Posted on December 17, 2013

The New York Times reports that a new author has been found to continue the late Stieg Larsson's Millenium series, which began with The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Larsson died in 2004 and was working on the fourth book in the series at the time. The series was expected to stretch to 10 books and there is a great deal of pent up demand for more entries in the series.

Larsson's publisher Norstedts Forlag announced that it has hired journalist and author David Lagercrantz to continue the series. Lagercrantz's resume is short on fiction, but he has co-written the autobiography of a Swedish soccer star.

The next book is set for release in August, 2015. Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara starred in the English film version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, but a sequel has not been confirmed. Rumors say that Craig will reprise his role as Mikael Blomkvist and Rooney Mara will return as computer hacker Lisbeth Salander in The Girl Who Played with Fire.
