Disney Announces One Million Copy First Print Run for Final Artemis Fowl Novel

Posted on February 16, 2012

Disney Publishing's Disney-Hyperion imprint has announced a one-million copy first printing for The Last Guardian, the eighth and final book in the Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer. The book will be released on July 10th. A first chapter is available on artemistfowl.com.

In The Last Guardian, Artemis Fowl's arch rival Opal Koboi is wreaking havoc yet again. The evil pixie has somehow reanimated dead fairy warriors who were buried on the grounds of Fowl Manor. Their spirits have possessed Artemis's little brothers, Butler's sister, Juliet, and assorted forest animals. Artemis and Holly must outwit all of them and defeat Opal before the world is destroyed.

Eoin Colfer says, "Artemis Fowl has been like an imaginary son to me for more than a decade. I was determined to finish the series with an adventure that will leave fans happily exhausted."
