Disney Publishing Worldwide announced a huge 3.5 million first printing for The Mark of Athena, the third book in Rick Riordan's Heroes of Olympus series. The book arrives in stores today, October 2, 2012.

The series has over 33 million books in print. It has been translated into 37 languages in 36 countries.

The Mark of Athena unites the Greek and Roman main characters from The Lost Hero and The Son of Neptune. Seven demigods journey by air across the United States and by sea in a fantastical ship, Argo II, to Rome on a quest to defeat the earth mother, Gaea. Meanwhile, war is breaking out between the Roman and Greek demigods they left behind. It will be up to Annabeth, the daughter of Athena, to restore the peace.

Rick Riordan has embarked on a book tour for his latest novel.
