Disney Shutters Wonder Time Despite Rising Rate Base

Posted on January 23, 2009

In a surprising move, Disney is shuttering its Wondertime magazine and folding the wondertime.com website into its network of family website. Mediaweek says the company will focus on its FamilyFun parenting title. The March issue of Wondertime will be the very last.

Min Online says Wondertime had strong ad sales in 2008. It was also slated to have its rate base increase by 30% to 650,000 in February. For Disney to close the publication it may have been concerned about future revenues and the recession. The luxury baby category was considered very hot when Wondertime debuted in 2006.
