Dr. Ruth Lawrence Joins Breastfeeding.com

Dr. Ruth Lawrence, a prominent pediatrician and renowned breastfeeding professor, researcher and author, has joined Breastfeeding.com's medical advisory board. Breastfeeding.com is an online community for nursing mothers and expectant parents.

Breastfeeding.com features information on breastfeeding and related topics, articles on the latest research and provides answers to the most common questions nursing mothers have. As an advisor to Breastfeeding.com, Dr. Lawrence will contribute to the content and focus of the website to help ensure the site's medical accuracy and periodically host online chats on breastfeeding topics.

"Breastfeeding is such an important issue for babies and new mothers. The health benefits to both cannot be overlooked," Dr. Lawrence said. "I'm looking forward to contributing to a great breastfeeding resource such as Breastfeeding.com to help get that message out."

Dr. Lawrence is a professor of pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Rochester, where she directs the Breastfeeding and Human Lactation Study Center. She is the author of the book, Breastfeeding: A Guide for the Medical Profession, The book was first published in 1979, and is now in its fifth edition. In 1994, Dr. Lawrence helped form the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine, an organization for physicians.
