E.L.James Reveals Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam Will Star in Fifty Shades of Grey Movie

Posted on September 2, 2013

E.L. James has revealed the casting news for the film adaptation of her bestselling novel Fifty Shades of Grey. The author tweeted: "I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey." She then followed that announcement with another tweet revealing that Sons of Anarchy actor Charlie Hunnam will play Christian Grey in the movie.

Dakota is the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith. She has been in several films, including The Social Network, and starred in the short-lived Fox comedy Ben and Kate. One has to wonder: was the studio fine with the author tweeting this major casting news? Or did she jump the gun a bit?
